- 7 AM - 10 AM: Morning midge hatch in slower pools; fish Black Zebra Midge and Peacock Blowtorch deep before the fog lifts.
- 10 AM - 2 PM: Prime BWO window; look for rising fish in tailouts and eddy lines, switch to Juju Baetis, WD-40, or Parachute BWO.
- 3 PM - 6 PM: Streamer and caddis hour; strip the Sparkle Minnow through deep runs for big browns and swing the Corn-fed Caddis through tailouts.
Guide's Tip
From the benchWith flow up to 2,240 CFS and overnight storms in the mix, prioritize the inside seams of bends and the soft water behind mid-river boulders where trout will hold out of the main current. Set your indicator at 5-6 feet and lead with the Tungsten Tailwater Sowbug or Rainbow Warrior to get down fast — the extra flow means you need weight up front. Once the morning fog burns off around 9-10 AM and the BWO hatch kicks in, switch to a smaller Juju Baetis or WD-40 and watch the tailouts for rising fish. If you're hunting a big brown, wait until afternoon and throw the Sparkle Minnow Sculpin on a sink-tip through the deeper runs — the elevated water will have them on the prowl.
