Guide's Tip
From the benchAt 72.9 CFS and crystal-clear water, Silver Creek is fishing at its most technical right now. Approach every pod of rising fish from downstream on your knees, stay low, and keep your cast to 40 feet or less — these fish will spook at a shadow or a heavy footfall. Use a 12-foot leader tapered to 6X or 7X fluorocarbon for dry flies, and position your fly 2 to 3 feet above the feeding lane so it arrives drag-free in the window. During the BWO hatch, watch for the subtle sip-and-hold rise form that signals fish eating emergers just under the film — that's your cue to switch from a dun pattern to an emerger like the CDC Rainbow Warrior.
