From the benchWith 50°F water and heavy cloud cover all day, BWO hatches will be prolonged and intense — position yourself at the head of pools and target the seam where fast water meets slow, as browns and brookies will stack there to intercept drifting emergers. Before the hatch fires around 10 AM, work a heavy nymph like the Straggle Stone or Thread Frenchie along the bottom of the deeper runs at 3 to 4 feet. Keep a close eye on water clarity as the afternoon rain arrives — once you see the first tinge of color in the water, move to your best pool and fish it hard before visibility drops. Get off the water by early afternoon if flows start rising noticeably; the Neversink can color up quickly with significant rainfall.
